Ironman
This is the one of the best videos of Ironman. I used to watch it everyday when I needed a boost to go and do my workouts. This was from the 2005 world championships in Kona, HI. That race is the "Superbowl" of triathlons. I plan on buying a lottery spot again this year to see if I can get a slot for the race. That would be awesome.

9 more cents a cup? I'll pay it!
I mean seriously, how much more can you charge for a cup of joe? I mean I like all of the other drinks, but 9 cents is alot of money for every single cup. Starbucks is the Gen X new dope man. Its what we reach for in the morning and after dinner. Not to mention the numerous health benefits surrounding Coffee, its an addiction that may prove beneficial in the future. Read below;BOSTON , MA — It’s surprising when something that was once considered questionable for your health turns out to have health benefits, usually with the proviso to use it “in moderation.” That happened with chocolate and alcohol, and now it is coffee’s turn, reports the February issue of the Harvard Health Letter. Here’s some of the mostly good news about coffee:
Blood pressure. Results from long-term studies are showing that coffee may not increase the risk for high blood pressure over time, as previously thought. Study findings for other cardiovascular effects are a mixed bag.
Cancer. Coffee might have anti-cancer properties. Last year, researchers found that coffee drinkers were
50% less likely to get liver cancer than nondrinkers. A few studies have found ties to lower rates of colon, breast, and rectal cancers.Cholesterol. Two substances in coffee — kahweol and cafestol — raise cholesterol levels. Paper filters capture these substances, but that doesn’t help the many people who now drink non-filtered coffee drinks, such as lattes. Researchers have also found a link between cholesterol increases and decaffeinated coffee, possibly because of the type of bean used to make certain decaffeinated coffees.
Diabetes. Heavy coffee drinkers may be half as likely to get diabetes as light drinkers or nondrinkers. Coffee may contain chemicals that lower blood sugar. A coffee habit may also increase your resting metabolism rate, which could help keep diabetes at bay.
Parkinson’s disease. Coffee seems to protect men, but not women, against Parkinson’s disease. One possible explanation for the sex difference may be that estrogen and caffeine need the same enzymes to be metabolized, and estrogen captures those enzymes.
Drink Up!

Update
I have managed to reconnect with some old friends and it is great. Old friends meaning the ones that have know you since you were a kid. Friends that you played baseball with, chased girls with and other things. Those of which I will not put in text..;) Either way it seems like life has come full circle for me and now I am ready to keep on moving forward.
I have been training but nothing really serious. I have been doing some 45-1 hour runs and putting in some mileage on my road bike. I did 43 miles yesterday with my friend Chester in 2:40. It was a good ride for me from Scripps Ranch to Encinitas and back. It was fun and we got a chance to catch up as we rode. He and I used to work together so we always manage to have good work conversations. I am actually pretty burnt out on the whole race thing right now. 6 days a week for 6 months really was tough and I have not swam in like 2 months. The thought of getting in the pool and going round and round makes me want to vomit. I will probably try the ocean here soon and see how that works. I have done open water or ocean swims in the past, but this is the only image I have in my head when I am a quarter of a mile off the coast.

4th of July was good, we had a BBQ at my sisters and hung out with the new nephew. Man he is getting big. He is already outgrowing the 3 month old clothes that he has and he is only like 7 weeks old. He is a monster and quite the observer. We had a good time and ate good food. We also played Bocci ball which could be the most fun game ever invented.

Anyway, yesterday morning I went to Del Mar to surf in the morning at 6am to meet my friend steve. He forgot that I was there and ended up not showing at all. No problem, as I just sat
there and watched the waves and the dogs run up and down the coast. It was pretty funny. I was sitting on the seawall on 29th street. To my immediate right were some wood stairs that allow people to cross over the seawall and get to the beach. As people crossed I just sat as they walked up and over. As I sat there for another 35 minutes, I heard a loud thud on the stairs and looked back. When I looked back to see who was crossing the stairs, this guy looks at me and says "good morning". I replied with the same "morning" and then he walked over the stairs and began to walk on the beach. The walk turned into a jog and then before long he was running. It took me like 7 seconds and I was man that guy looks familiar. At about 9 seconds it hit me. It was John Lynch from the Denver Broncos. He is from Del Mar and I guess that he lives pretty close. The reason that I say that is I turned around and looked for some really nice cars and did not see anything around. Either way, he was a cool guy. I wish that we had him in the secondary.
